ABOUT JANINE

Janine Fox-Mason believes a home should feel deeply personal. Not a showroom. Not a Pinterest board. Not a carbon copy of what's currently fashionable. She helps clients create homes that reflect who they are and how they want to live.

Janine was barely four years old and insisted on constantly rearranging her bedroom and finding new layouts …. some things haven’t changed!

Her “growing up” was done in Taranaki and Rotorua, and once Janine left school, she got a job in a bank. I know!!!! The low levels of creativity essentially made her realise she needed to get back to what she loved.

What happened next was, Janine studied Interior Design at Christchurch Polytechnic for two years, and found jobs in and out of creative businesses before a brief stint backpacking in Europe and the UK.

Years later moving to London with her husband they made the most of the incredible ability to access travel, and it has been one of her inspirations ever since.  From discovering unique architecture - the likes of Gaudi in Barcelona - to visiting furniture, art, and antique shops, flea markets, food markets, design stores, hotel, café & bar interiors around the globe - and right here in Aotearoa - she simply loves taking inspiration from multiple sources and bringing them together for her clients.

Design Philosophy

Interior design for art-lovers, collectors & bold spirits who want a home that tells a story. The best homes aren't built from trends. They're built from a lifetime of experiences, treasured finds, meaningful objects, favourite colours, collected memories and the people who live within them. Janine believes a home should feel deeply personal. Not a showroom. Not a Pinterest board. Not a carbon copy of what's currently fashionable. She helps her clients create homes that reflect who they are and how they want to live. Her approach starts with curiosity. Understanding the people behind the project, what they love, what inspires them, and what makes them feel at home. From there, she layers colour, texture, artwork, heirloom pieces, vintage treasures and contemporary design to create spaces that feel uniquely personal. Because great design isn't about following trends. It's about creating a home that tells your story. A home that's lived in, loved, and unmistakably yours.
